Most of us accept what we believe to be normal in this world. However things change, and so does our mood about the world’s normality. There are many a strange thing in this world, and when those things occur, each person reacts differently. Some accept these things for what they are, while others detest them. In our story it is actually preferred. Allow me to introduce you to our main character. Imagine a teenage boy, shy yet intelligent and loving. He has dark brown spiked hair and a long sleeved, light blue shirt. Along with Dark blue jeans and bright green tennis shoes. His name is Zachary Deltoid. Zachary leads a rather normal life. He lives in a normal house with is normal family including his normal parents and his normal sister. He goes to his normal school with all the other normal teenagers. And he lives in a normal neighborhood with normal people. But Zachary was growing tired of his normal life. He longed for some act of nature to change it, and make it more interesting. But what he most desired, was to love. For you see, Zachary had been feeling lonely lately. He saw the other students in the school that were dating and how happy they were. Going on dates to the movies or out to dinner. Kissing in the hallway showing their love for each other. Zachary saw this and wished for the same. It wasn’t that Zachary couldn’t find a date (although if he did it would only be for one time considering he was considered a loser by most in his school and didn’t seem to have any friends) it was just that he wanted to find that perfect someone. He didn’t want to settle for anything less. Even though he was starting to lose hope that he’d ever find someone, he did not expect that he would find that someone very soon, and he would never expect, who that someone would be.

It was one hot and sunny Tuesday in the mid-school year. It could almost be said that whatever created the world and all it’s wonders, whether it be god or the forces of nature, was watching our friend closely that day. Zachary went to all his classes and did all his work as he always did. He exercised in gym as he always did, and he ate lunch all alone very aware of the negative comments that were whispered about him as he always did. When school had ended and he was walking home, he found himself struck again with the thought of not having a mate. “maybe I’m not meant to have someone” He thought to himself. “Maybe not everyone is meant to have someone to love”. As he thought his sad thoughts, he began dragging his feet more and more, scraping and sliding them against the pavement and kicking several small rocks. Suddenly, the world began changing around him very quickly, and he noticed it. The houses and streets seemed to be tilting as if the whole world was dipping in one direction. He felt something catch against his foot and hold it there. The ground started coming closer to his face and he had a slight falling sensation. In case you have not deduced it by now, Zachary was tripping. He soon hit the hot concrete sidewalk with a soft thud. He rubbed his shoulder where he had landed and turned over to see what it was that he had tripped over. It was a girl. A teenage girl sleeping in the middle of the sidewalk. Realizing that he may have hurt her considering he partially landed on her, he got up to help. “Oh my god! Are you alright?” The girl did not answer immediately, but instead yawned and stretched. “huh? What?” She turned over to face Zachary and now he could see her face. When he did, his face of worriment turned into a face of fright. This is when Zachary’s life had officially changed. Although she seemed sweet and normal with her pink polka dotted dress, her long golden hair and her tennis shoes, their was obviously something strange about her. Perhaps it was the long tail protruding from a hole in the back of her dress. Or that her entire body was covered in bright yellow fur with black stripes like that of a tiger. But most of all, it must have been her most unnatural face. Her look could have been considered a deformation or a physical disease, but neither of those statements would be true. As strange as she seemed, she was supposed to be that way. All in all, her description would be like that, of a furry‘s. When she saw Zachary, she noticed the dirt on his clothes and knew what happened. “oh I’m sorry. Did you trip over me? I really should stop doing that.” she said stretching out on the pavement like a cat. “It’s just that this sidewalk was so warm and toasty.” She hopped up any dirt off her dress. Then she stood there for him with her hands behind her back, her tail swishing about and a friendly smile on her face.

All Zachary could do was stand there staring at her. He was not afraid or disgusted, just confused. He knew the world for what it was, and couldn‘t conceive how such a person could exist. So he stood there with his mouth open and his eyes wide. The feline noticed his expression and thought he was waiting for an introduction. “Oh I’m sorry, how rude of me.” she began  “Let me introduce myself. I’m-” “Are you alright?” Zachary interrupted with a hint of fright in his voice. The girl smiled again and answered him, believing he was referring to the accident. “Yeah, I’m alright. Thanks for asking.” she said gleefully. She seemed to be very excited about nothing. She was just that friendly. “It’s just that…Well…Your face…It’s.” The girl immediately understood what he was trying to say and quickly explained. “Oh! That’s what you mean.” She said with a noticeable amount of disappointment. Zachary shrunk back fearing he had offended her, but to his surprise, she maintained her cheerful smile. “ I should‘ve known that‘s what you meant. It‘s not a disease or anything. My family‘s just sort of like this. I don‘t know how to explain it. We just are.” Zachary still could not understand how this was possible, but he decided not to dwell on it and just act normal. After all, it’s not like she was going to hurt him or anything. She was very friendly. “oh,” he said “um, well okay.” He was still nervous even if he tried not to be. The girl grinned noticing his nervousness. “It’s okay. You didn’t offend me or anything.” Zachary decided to change the topic as not to dwell on their present topic. “so, what’s your name?” She smiled again, which she seemed to do a lot. “ Jesse,” she chirped “what’s yours?”. She was very excited about meeting someone new that wasn’t part of her family. Zach became distracted with her tail as it waved behind her. “Zach,” he answered. She waved at him playfully. “Hi Zach!” Zach smiled nervously and waved back. He looked over to the house that they were standing in front of. “Is that your house?” He asked her pointing to it. She looked over to it and cocked her head. Then she giggled “Oh no, my house is down the street.” Zach wanted to make a courteous gesture towards this strange new feline, so he offered to walk her home. She grinned, believing that he liked her, and held out her hand to him. “sure!” she said happily. Zachary looked down at her hand that she held out wondering if she wanted him to do what he thought she wanted him to do. She looked back and forth from her hand to his, waiting for something to happen. “well go on.” She offered “If you’re going to take me home we should hold hands. Or, at least that’s what I heard.” Zachary hesitantly reached out and clasped his hand around her furry paw. As soon as he did, she grinned at his acceptance and ran past him dragging him along with her. The sudden movement from her caught Zachary off guard and he ended up stumbling behind her. Soon she slowed down and released his hand as she was distracted by a butterfly that was flying along the sidewalk. She pawed at it as a cat would never taking her eyes off it. Zachary rubbed the back of his head relieved the running lasted shortly, and continued to walk with her. “so what’s it like?” she asked him still playing with the butterfly. “what?” Zachary said. “School.” she replied “Going to all those classes with all those other kids. What’s it like?” Zachary had forgotten that it wasn’t very enjoyable for him and answered “It’s alright I guess. Why? Haven’t you ever gone?” She swung at the butterfly but missed it “No. I‘m home schooled. My parents say it‘s because it‘s a ‘comfortable learning environment‘. I think they just don‘t want me going to school with-.” She paused as if in thought. “Humans?” Zachary finished. “yeah,” she said sadly. Zachary worried he might have hurt her feelings. But her mood changed instantly, and she went back to chasing the butterfly. Zachary thought for a second “well maybe you could ask them. It’s worth a try.” She stopped and grinned at him with a look of excitement.

“yeah!” She replied overjoyed. “Then we could go to school together!” Zachary was a little surprised at how much this girl had grown a liking to him. However he wasn’t sure he wanted to hang around with her too much. It might be a little embarrassing. “here it is!” she said spotting her house and rushing towards it. Zachary noticed something familiar about her house. He vaguely remembered the conversation his parents had last night at dinner. Something about the house next door being sold. Then he looked at the house to the left of hers and recognized it as his own. They were neighbors. “great” he thought. “now she’s going to want to hang out with me all the time.” But to his surprise, he actually liked that idea. Was he actually starting to like her?. The girl ran down the path to he front door. She stopped and turned around to wave goodbye to him, wildly swinging her arm about. He waved back shyly. Then she skipped merrily into her house. Zachary watched her go inside and stood there for a minute, wondering if what just happened really did happen. He finally came to and got himself moving again and went inside his own home.

Later, just before dinner the phone rang. Zachary’s mother called from the bottom of the stairs up to his room where he was doing his homework. “It’s for you!” She shouted. Zachary put down his pencil and picked up the phone next to his bed. “hello?” He said into the receiver. “Hiya!” The cheerful voice from the phone answered. He immediately recognized it as Jesse’s voice. “Jesse?” He said confused “How did you get our number?” “well our parents called each other to get to know each other better. So we kept each others phone numbers.” Zachary knew that because his parents had talked to hers over the phone, they had not yet seen “the look” of her family. ‘This might cause future problems’ he thought. “So, what did you need? Why’d you call?” He asked her eager to get to the point. “I talked to my parents like you said I should and they agreed! They signed me up for school and I start tomorrow! Now we can go together! Isn’t this exciting?” Zachary almost dropped his phone from shock. He didn’t want to let her know that he didn’t like the idea of bringing her to school where he already had a bad reputation. “Um, yeah. It’s great.” He said desperately trying to fake excitement. She didn’t even notice his sarcasm. “Alright, I’ll see tomorrow then. Bye!” “Bye” he said before hanging up. Zachary Deltoid took a moment to take a look at his life. Why was this happening? Why him? None of it made any sense. Was this really going to happen? Was he really going to have to spend the rest of his days knowing this strange girl he knew as Jesse? What did he do to deserve this? But little did Zachary know, that this is exactly what he wished for.
you remember these guys right? Well now, for lack of flash animating talent, here is their story. I've already written 3 other chapters, I just need to edit and upload them. Enjoy!
